FIND BOX & LOOKUP
At the 'Find' box you may enter a simple lookup request - yet powerful search facilities are also available to you - so most bank lookups can be done here.
Enter your lookup request in the 'Find' box, then click the Lookup button - or simply press [Enter]. If your lookup request includes a sort code or postcode this is detected, and Pocket BankFinder will automatically carry out a lookup for you without the need to click Lookup.

Where you are not sure of the sort code or the postcode, Pocket BankFinder
can easily find addresses from other information.
Valid entries are:
| Entry | Example | |
| Sort Code Only | 517032 | |
| Postcode Only | B26 3JW | |
| Branch Name | St. Philips Place | |
| Bank Name | Royal Bank | |
| Town or Location | Birmingham | |
| Phone | 0121 7411380 | |
| ...including just an STD Code | 0121 | |
| Text in any field, Any of the above | Coventry Road,HSBC | |
| Harborne,517032 | ||
| A Bank BIC Code | NWBKGB21 | |
| A Branch and Bank BIC Code | 02J,BARCGB21 |
Click the Lookup Button or press the [Enter] key and Pocket BankFinder will look up the request you've entered. You will see from the examples above, that Pocket BankFinder is quite tolerant of how spaces are used and whether capital or lower case letters are used.
Pocket BankFinder also provides a set of lookup directives so that you can force a lookup to look for data in fields you specify to allow quick searching straight from the lookup box.
The following directives can be used:
| Directive | Example | Purpose | |
| S= | S=200771 | Forces lookup as a Sort Code | |
| P= | P=B44 9JJ | Forces lookup as a Postcode | |
| C= | C=MIDLGB21 | Forces lookup as a Bank BIC | |
| R= | R=20A | Forces lookup as a Branch BIC | |
| N= | N=City | Forces lookup as a Branch Name | |
| B= | B=Natwest | Forces lookup as a Bank Name | |
| T= | T=Birmingham | Forces lookup as a Town / Location | |
| #= | #=0121 | Forces lookup as a Phone number |
Examples of valid lookups are listed in the Lookup history (click the down arrow to the right of the Find box) when Pocket BankFinder is first run. As you perform lookups yourself these entries are overwritten by your own recent lookup history.
The examples help illustrate the types of lookups available in Pocket BankFinder - including most of the examples quoted in this section of the manual.
