Rutland Returns! Campaigners from Oakham & Uppingham have succeeded in having 'Rutland' replace 'Leicestershire' as the official Postal County on Royal Mail PAF. The change affects 13,000+ delivery points. County names are not required to deliver mail, Royal Mail are happy for people to include them if they like to. All AFD Q.1/08 data release products includes this change.

A new partnership between AFD Software and DX makes it easier for DX Members to further cut the cost of document distribution, increase document security and improve staff productivity. DX research shows that 10-20% of documents that could go via DX actually go by Royal Mail or other carriers. AFD have released a special DX version of Postcode Plus and Names & Numbers which makes identification and use of a DX address a fully integrated part of rapid address entry and validation.

AFD name and address data management solutions now work out of the box with Raiser's Edge - a popular charity fundraising package. Users simply enter the postcode in the first address field and AFD's patented Robot technology returns and inserts the full address. (Where necessary a pick list is presented from which the appropriate address is selected). Users may also use the AFD interface to lookup, find and insert addresses into Raisers Edge and any other Windows application.

AFD has reduced the environmental impact of paper and mail distribution by completing a move to paperless administration across its network of over 300 partners. Now increasing numbers of it 7,000 + customer base are reducing environmental impact further by choosing this option.

Royal Mail changes to the way in which postage and discounts are calculated has gone through a series of major changes. Each of these is carefully and immediately worked in to AFD MailSaver. MailSaver automates the process of preparing data for mailings, including calculation of cost and preparation of reports for Royal Mail. MailSaver handles Pricing in Proportion, E*Pro and all other changes and enhancements.

Increasing cultural energy backed with legislation are likely to result in 2.9 million welsh speakers by 2016. AFD has marked this revival in the Welsh language with a special edition of Postcode Plus which includes Welsh addresses in both Welsh and English.

Access to all AFD solutions is now available through a single 'Common API'. No existing systems are affected by the API, however all new development work is simplified and a single integration enables partners to offer the choice of any AFD product option to a customer.

AFD has included the new Unique Delivery Point Reference Number with Postcode Plus and Names & Numbers. Release of the new UDPRN is timely as it enables compliance with the new addressing standard BS7666 Part 5 published in September 2006. Relevant AFD products comply with this standard and there is no additional charge for the UDPRN.

All Irish Banks that are part of the Irish Payment Services Organisation are no included with BankFinder. This enables validation of bank and account details for institutions such as Permanent TSB, Allied Irish and the Bank of Ireland.
